50 courts.
A number that represents more than just playing spaces. It represents culture, community, and commitment. From the first court in Lisbon in 2019 to the new inauguration in Rio de Janeiro, what started as a dream has transformed into a global movement.
A symbolic milestone in Brazil
Hoopers, a Portuguese startup that has been operating in the Brazilian market for about two years, has just reached a symbolic milestone: the revitalization of its 50th court. The chosen location to celebrate this achievement was Praça Cláudio Coutinho, in Leblon, south zone of Rio de Janeiro.
The inauguration was graced by the presence of Giannis Antetokounmpo, international basketball star, and was made possible through a partnership with Betano and ALOB.
“Last year, we received a strategic investment to accelerate our operations in Brazil. This delivery in Leblon is a clear reflection of that; we are bringing to life a plan for real impact, with concrete actions that value basketball and transform communities. This is the 50th court revitalized by Hoopers in the world, and having it in Brazil is a clear sign of where we want to be increasingly present,” says André Costa, CEO and founder of Hoopers.
From Portugal to the world
The revitalized courts are spreading from north to south of Portugal. From Matosinhos to Portimão, passing through Chelas, Peniche, Oeiras, Braga, Almada, Leiria, and Chamusca.
Each court, a story. Each painting, a manifesto. Each shot, a declaration: basketball lives here.
But the impact of the initiative has crossed borders.
Hoopers has taken the game to Barcelona, reached São Paulo and now lands in Rio de Janeiro with the inauguration of the 50th court.
Rio de Janeiro: court 50
The setting is the cradle of Brazilian talent, where the street speaks samba, funk, and basketball.
The mission continues: to give life to spaces that deserve more than abandonment.
Because a revitalized court is an empowered community.
But the impact of the initiative has crossed borders.
Hoopers has taken the game to Barcelona, reached São Paulo and now lands in Rio de Janeiro with the inauguration of the 50th court.
Culture in every stroke
Each court is unique because it is made with those who live the game.
Hoopers has collaborated with names such as AkaCorleone, Sam The Kid, Vasco Costa, Joana Vasconcelos, FLIX, Neto Sete Oito, Tamara Alves, Mário Belém, T-Rex, João Varela, among many others.
It has also established partnerships with brands such as Citroën, Betclic, NBA Station, Cleveland Cavaliers, MAC, FPB and Project Backboard.
At the center of it all are those who play, paint, and watch. Those who feel the asphalt, hear the sound of the ball, and live the game.
And the future?
The journey is just beginning.
The 50th court symbolizes everything that has been built so far, but it also points to everything that is yet to come.
As long as there is a hoop to set up, a line to paint, and a community to gather, Hoopers will be present.
Let’s change the game, together.
