Basketball is more than just a game – it’s passion, connection, and emotion. The 2024 FIBA Photo Contest brought together photographers from across the globe to showcase the sport’s deep impact on communities and cultures.

Between October and December, the contest received an incredible 1,504 photo submissions from 806 photographers representing 126 countries. This year’s theme, “Emotions”, challenged participants to capture the highs and lows, the triumphs and struggles that define basketball.

After careful deliberation, three standout images were chosen:

1st Place“I got it Mom!” by Dedy Dedy (Indonesia)
A heartwarming moment of pure joy as a young player leaps into his mother’s arms after an overtime championship victory at the Aim High Winter Cup 2024.

2nd Place“Basketball is my life” by Ziaul Huque (Bangladesh)
The inspiring story of Mohammad Jisad, a physically impaired basketball player who never let his condition stop him from playing the game he loves.

3rd Place“Collaboration” by Val P. Bagabaldo (Philippines)
Children come together to create a makeshift basketball court, proving that the love for the game transcends all barriers.

The top 100 images will be featured in the FIBA Photo Book 2024, preserving these incredible snapshots that remind us that basketball is a universal language that brings people together.
